Below is my proposal for an 18-30 minute piece,
in six movements, about San Sebastián,

I. Parte Vieja: After battles with the British and Portuguese troops; victory over Napoleon’s army; and the fire of 1813, the old cobble-stone town was rebuilt to it's current glory. An introduction: from the mist the main theme imerges. Distant drums & brass are heard.

II. The Beaches: theme: The grandeur of Playa de la Concha; variations; 1. The charming Playa de la Ondrretta; 3. The lovely María Cristina Gardens; 4. lively surfing on Playa de la Zurriola; and 5. the secret swimming spot on Santa Clara Island.

III. “Tamborrada” festival: A march where brass and percussion, especially drums, are most prominent. Below are: Marcha de San Sebastián which I may use for inspiration; and another of my thoughts for this movement; as well as a picture of the colorful festival that has been celebrated ever year since 1836.

V. La Viña: The Pintxo bar that is the home of Basque cheese-
cake: crust-less and burnt on top so that every slice is firm & delicious! A luxuious movement with mallets and strings.

VI. Miramar Palace: Built by English archetect Seldon Wornum, and finished in 1893. It's style is English with neogothic ornaments. It was the summer home of Queen Christina; so she could take sea baths in La Concha Bay. A recapitulation of the major themes of the work in a magestic style featuring the whole orchestra.
