"Off-Nights at the Sometimes Café, a burlesque by Dave Walther,
tells queer stories in ways that center joy, laughter, and love.
—it’s a great blend of quirky, clever, goofy, and heartfelt...
with memorable tunes: it is a great show-piece for all the performers. Off-Nights is the story of a bunch of misfits finding their chosen family, and all the ridiculous, touching, absurd and sweet moments that are born from that. Blending styles of drag, film noir, dance and music theater into one delicious extravaganza. It's the kind of art that we all need right now!" Claire DiVizio, Artistic Director of Thompson Street Opera Company.

"OFF-NIGHTS AT THE SOMETIME CAFÉ is a campy parody of a noir mystery that follows a cafe pianist in lieu of a detective. As this narrator plays his way through the show, he guides the audience through the tangled web of attraction, seduction, and general silliness that occurs when a bunch of queer people end up in the same place. It is a delightful, poignant celebration of queer joy and desire." Spotlight on Lake! laughingcat.

"Easily the highlight of the concert were several arrangements by Dave Walther. Especially satisfying was Walther's setting of three familiar folk songs, a medley that managed to sidestep all the stereotypes with a version of Simple Gifts that owed absolutely nothing to Aaron Copeland's. Walther's touching arrangements of Long Time Ago set Mary Saunders' rich, soprano peeping through the lush harmonic haze of flute and guitar like the sun through the clouds.' George W. Harper, Beverly Times. Below are all three of the folk songs; sung by soprano, Mary Saunders, and Dave Walther, bass-baritone, with
