My Family
Dr. Sam Walter: my father, was a brilliant conductor, composer, and concert organist, who gave 52 concerts a year. He was also professor emeritas of organ at Rutgers University and the organist at Marsh Chapel, Boston University. He also taught at New England Conservatory. He was a published author of books on choral music & service playing. He received his doctorate in organ, from Union Theological seminary in New York City, and served as secretary of The American Guild of Orgnaists. He was the music director of Saint Anne's Pro-Cathedral, Brookline, NYC; and The Church of The Resurrection, NYC, where he produced a major oratorio every month. He encouraged, promoted, and performed my music from an early age.
Janet Wheeler: my mother, had a rich lyric soprano voice. She was a graduate of The Eastman School of Music, and held a Master's degree from New England Conservatory. She studied with Olga Averino (Longy School of Music) & Jennie Tourel (Juilliard). She had a long career as a soloist, singing works of Bach, Handel, Mozart, Menotti, & Puccini. She premiered & recorded"Angstwagon" by Rolv Yttrehus. She was professor emeritas at Bard College where she co-founded an innovative opera and acting department with theatrical director, William Driver. She greatly encouraged my career as a singer. Drew Hubbard: The love of my life, my husband (legally since 2005); a long time clinical therapist. He created most of the artwork on this webite. His love, and support of my music has been indispensible to me throughout the years. Please click on his picture to see more of his work. Rex and Honey: our two feline companions, who are always willing to warm a lap, sing a song, & make sure that we are well licked. |
