Concerto for Oboe and Tumpet: Six Chorale Preludes
This piece was originally "Five Chorale Preludes for Organ" that I wrote in my late 20s. See "Six Chorale Preludes" II/I/2. They were performed many times by Harvey Burgett (left) at St. Paul's Cathedral, Boston; The Church of The Ascension in NYC and elsewhere. #4 & 5 were performed by James Christi at Old West Church, Boston, MA; selections were also performed by Gordon Dean. #5 was written when I was 15; notes for #3 were produced when I was in my my early-mid 20s & completed in August of 2021. The whole piece was revised with the addition of #3, in July and August of 2021. They were orchestrated at that time as "Concerto for Oboe and Trumpet" finished on 8/12/21. This piece is accompanied by string orchestra. The only other concerto for this combination that I have heard is by is by Johann Wilhem Hertel. |
